The music video for the "What I Need" collaboration with Hayley Kiyoko, and Kehlani just dropped. The hit song from Hayley Kiyoko's debut album Expectations. The video shows former Disney Channel actress Hayley Kiyoko still has it and takes for a bit of an emotional rollercoaster in the "What I Need" video. Hayley Kiyoko and Kehlani play childhood best friends who run away together. Kiyoko directed the video, creating a short film. The opening scene shows Kehlani's character fighting with her aunt as she hastily packs her things to leave for good. The aunt questions the true nature of her relationship with her childhood best friend, portrayed by Kiyoko. As Kehlani leaves the house, the track drops and the adventure begins. The platonic relationship between the two becomes more romantic as they flirt and dance with each other.

Things get a little intense as their car breaks down, and they begin to hitchhike. When Kehlani spots a pick-up truck, she jumps in the back of it and convinces a nervous Kiyoko to come with her. The driver finally realizes they are in the back of his truck -- just as the two are about to kiss -- he starts to take a liking to Kehlani, aggressively flirting and touching her hair. She decides to stay and take the ride while a worried and confused Kiyoko stands there as they drive away. Later, Kehlani runs back to Kiyoko, and they kiss.
