“Boyfriend” comes only five months after releasing her latest studio album, “Thank U, Next.” The new track “Boyfriend” is a catchy song about a situation-ship. A situation-ship is when two people who aren’t dating exclusively but don’t want the other to be dating anyone else. The song takes a light-hearted approach to this topic with upbeat tempos. The record also features a catchy chorus, showing their pen game is something not to be messed with.

Along with this track, Ariana and Social House releases the official music video. In the footage, Ariana and Mikey are in a situation-ship. Scottie portrays the best friend trying to advise them about the chain reaction behavior.

The visual adds to the fun track by featuring stunt doubles. Stunt doubles are used for extreme action shots that are done in their imagination. They play out all the jealous territorial things that cross their minds because they don’t want the other to be showing attention to another person. Ariana even uses a crossbow to shoot an arrow at a girl she sees talking to Mikey.

Ariana is currently on tour and soon begins the European leg of her tour and back in the US in November for the rest of the American tour. Social House is readying for their new EP Everything Changed... releasing on August 9.

“Boyfriend” is available on all streaming platforms. The official music video is out now on YouTube.
