This week I give the spotlight to a young songstress that wants the music to speak for itself, by "having everything revealed."

This morning H.E.R released the official music video for her latest official single, “Hard Place.” The video is pure, honest, and tells a story of a couple whom both have dreams of making it in the music industry.

In the video, H.E.R is the supportive girlfriend to her boyfriend but while at his headlining performance she is offered a deal and not him. The story plays out beautifully of the struggles of the boyfriend hiding his insecurities to be supportive of H.E.R and the opportunity she received. However, it ultimately takes a toll on their relationship, and they try to work it out, but H.E.R is stuck in a “Hard Place.”

The video does a fantastic job showing this back and forth struggle, showing H.E.R’s journey to where she is now in her career, a journey she should be happy about and enjoying — but feels guilty her boyfriend doesn’t have the opportunity also.

The cinematography illustrates the story so well while watching you feel like you have some attachment to this couple and their fate. Every scene and shot puts you right there. However, don’t just take my word for it and check out the video below.
