This week’s must-see TV series is All American a new series on The CW.

All American is a new series based on the life of former NFL player Spencer Paysinger. All American follows the life of Spencer James (Daniel Ezra), a rising football player at Crenshaw High until offered the opportunity to play football in Beverly Hills by coach Billy Baker (Taye Diggs). Spencer’s mother, Grace (Karimah Westbrook), and his best friend, Coop (Bre-Z), convince him it is worth a shot. To protect Spencer’s transfer permit he moves to Beverly Hills with coach Billy Baker and his family. Coach Baker’s son Jordan (Michael Evans Behling) is the starting quarterback and is not comfortable sharing the team’s spotlight and his father’s attention. Spencer struggles with getting adjusted to Beverly and befriends coach Baker’s daughter, Olivia (Samantha Logan).

All American cast

Drama, laughter, and charm are aspects that are present in each episode of All American. The show tackles issues that viewers can relate to no matter what side of the tracks they come from. There is still some mystery to the series as characters’ pasts keep affecting their futures. However, I will not provide any spoilers, the mystery is what makes the show, and it’s filming style great. All American has a way that makes viewers fall in love with the characters as you want better for them but still get angry when they continue to get in their way.

All American is a well-written series and has the potential to be the teen drama of this era on The CW. Though All American has yet to receive a season 2 renewal, season 1 bumped to a full 16 episode season. Until word on season 2 for All American catch up with season 1, on The CW app. All American airs on Wednesday’s 9/8c on The CW.
