A "Necessary" Means: The New Chapter of Bahja Rodriguez
On August 4, 2017, the former pink haired OMG Girlz singer, Bahja Rodriguez, dropped her first single off her upcoming debut album.
Bahja Rodriquez has been singing for most of her life, she was apart of the young girl group, OMG Girlz. The group was very popular among teens as well as myself a few years back. Though they never released an album or EP, they had many singles that were pure bops. The group split to pursue solo careers and since then Bahja has been making music that shows her true self to her fans. Bahja released her first EP, It Gets Better, in 2015. The EP was soulful R&B that was very refreshing. She followed up with another EP, LUV, in 2016. The LUV EP also produced a short visual album following its successful release.
Bahja has now dropped her last name for her stage name and now just goes by Bahja. Which I wish she would have announced because I could not find her latest single "Necessary" because I was looking under her old artist name. But she cleared things up on her Instagram, which is great because I almost canceled my Tidal subscription for Apple Music to get the single.
Finally I got my hands on the single "Necessary" and I fell in love with it right away. The beat is very upbeat and makes you want to dance. It has the making to be the bop to end the last stretch of the summer.
Bahja shows versatility in her music, it can be more edgy and urban or sweet soulful melodic ballads. Bahja's dance skills also give her an edge that will allow her to sell out arenas and sky rocket on music charts. You can hear and see the growth Bahja has had and how she applies it to her creative process. I'm very excited that she has a great team to support and brand her well. I see her lasting very long in the music industry. You can check out "Necessary", on Apple Music/iTunes, Tidal, or Spotify.
